Road Building and Driveways

Gravel or hard-surface roads and driveways, cut and hauled with our own machines, trucks and quarry stone out of Atlanta, Michigan.

When the road washes out every spring

A two-track looks fine in August. Then the spring melt runs down the middle of it and the ruts turn into a creek. A road built without a place for the water to go keeps washing out, no matter how much gravel gets dumped on top.

Seth Tuuri's hunting camp had a spot that was "flooding out our roads." Tom dug a pond there, put in a silt pond with culverts and built up the road around it.

The other failure is plainer: nobody calls back. Laurie Marr called six companies about a driveway and none of them would call back.

Built with our own machines and stone

We build gravel or hard-surface roads and driveways, and new roadways from scratch: quarry and trucking roads, residential driveways, housing-development roads and property access roads.

Tom Oesch's operators run the Hitachis and the dozer, and the stone comes out of our own quarry on our own trucks. Tom was on Laurie Marr's property within four hours working on a quote, and the driveway went in extremely fast.

The same quarry that supplies the road base also supplies sand, limestone, pea stone and drain stone for other jobs, so one call covers the machines, the stone and the hauling.

Culverts, drainage and a road that holds

A road holds when the water has somewhere to go. We set drainage and culvert pipe where the road crosses a low spot or a ditch, and we sell culvert pipe in steel and plastic.

A dozer can work a road bed under snow, cutting ruts in and banking spoil to the side.

Laurie Marr's review sums up the finish: Tom "knew exactly what we wanted and it ended even better than what we expected."
